our values
gobbo is built around people, creativity, and communities. We want the internet to be a place where people can make things, share things, find their people, and have a little fun along the way.
Openness
The internet is more interesting when people are free to bring their own ideas to it. gobbo should be a place where creators of all backgrounds can participate without unnecessary barriers, gatekeeping, or having to fit into someone else's mold.
Creativity
We like weird ideas. We like experiments. We like projects that start as "what if we tried this?" and turn into something real. gobbo exists to give people room to create, learn, explore, and share things that actually feel like them.
Community
gobbo isn't just a bunch of websites sitting next to each other. The people who use gobbo are part of what makes it worth building. We want communities where people can meet, collaborate, disagree respectfully, and make something together.
Transparency
People shouldn't have to guess what a platform is doing or why a decision was made. We'll try to explain things clearly, be honest when we get something wrong, and give the community a voice when decisions actually affect them.
Ownership & Respect
Your work is yours. gobbo provides the tools and infrastructure to help you share it, but that doesn't mean we get to treat your creations, ideas, or contributions as ours. The same goes for the people who help build gobbo itself.
Privacy & Responsibility
People shouldn't have to give up their privacy just to participate. We'll keep the information we collect focused on what we actually need, and we'll treat the information people trust us with carefully. We also expect everyone who participates here to help keep our communities safe, welcoming, and worth being part of.
Freedom, Weirdness, and Fun
The internet doesn't need to be another shopping mall. There should still be room for strange projects, niche interests, inside jokes, experiments, and things that don't make sense to everyone. gobbo is allowed to be a little weird. In fact, we'd prefer it.
These values are more than words
We wrote these ideas down because we don't want them to disappear the moment things get difficult. Our Charter of Fundamental Principles turns these values into a set of commitments for how gobbo is governed, how users and contributors are treated, how decisions are made, and what happens when gobbo succeeds.
The Charter is meant to protect the things that make gobbo gobbo: user ownership and control, community participation, contributor fairness, transparency, independence, and making sure that the value gobbo creates ultimately benefits the people and communities it exists to serve.
It's also meant to grow with us. gobbo platforms is currently unincorporated, but if we eventually become a formal legal organization, we'll adapt the Charter into the appropriate legal documents while keeping its underlying principles intact.
